I’m using ISE Actually example code runs great as well. When I remove sector erasing at the start of this example code, software stops writing to SPI. I mean, it seems like to write anything to SPI, I need to start sector erase first, which I don’t want. I can use Impact to write and read the code successfully, it works great. But this example code does not work without erasing first. As Austin said, “flash” is not byte erasable, although if already erased, it is byte writable for “NOR”.

All forum topics Previous Topic Next Topic. I did require that before you write new data, you need to erase the old data once programmed, it can not be made back to a ‘1’: So, without being able to erase, a write is not very useful.
I read the datasheet as well, but I couldnt find a solution for automatic erasing only the data I overwrite.
I store configuration data on the SPI, I cannot erase all the data inside the whole sector. Is there any way to erase only some of them or overwrite them? There is no single byte erase.
As Austin said, “flash” is not byte erasable, although if already erased, it is byte writable for “NOR” flash. So if you don’t need to overwrite data, you should be able datssheet do byte writes.
