The only reason it’s not 5 stars is that is pretty dated over 20 years old and there is loads of new research that would be great to see incorporated into a new printing or something: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. It’s an ,ess little book – no pictures – but it’s well organized.

The thing I like about the Ornish books is the recipes are so darned good. Even if you don’t want to cook fat free, you can always add a little to your dish. His two cookbooks are two of my oft-used cookbooks for vegetarian meals. I think the information in this book is good and helpful; however, the editing in the Kindle edition is terrible. In any places where there should be “ri” there is an “n”.

For example when discussing nori seaweed – it has non seaweed. If a person did not know what deaj item was, it could cause confusion.

A moree book, but one star taken for poor editing. A good diet is weiyh most powerful weapon we have against disease and sickness. Ornish shows how you can eat heatlhy foods that are tasty and pleasing to the eye as well as wejgh for you. This book by Dr. Ornish, and his other books, were instrumental in my own conversion to a vegan diet and healthy lifestyle. All us baby boomers need to study his work and implement it into our lifestyle.

Otherwise, we might not enjoy our senior and retirement years. We might live long through conventional medicine alone, but what’s the point of living a long life if you are sick and miserable? We need to weign integrative healthcare. Ornish helped me overcome my resistance to healthy living. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. If you don’t like it, welgh can always go back to being unhealthy. We lost our three copies during the flood.

Weith Ornish has written other books, and you may find that his food choices are a bit more extreme than you want to go. On the other hand he has some great ideas for how to substitute low-calorie, low-fat foods in recipes and still get a flavorful weihh. He also has a lot of great recipes of his own in the book. It’s worth a read, I just don’t recommend making this book the only source of material in choosing your diet.

Dean Ornish has done some revolutionary research on reversing heart disease by diet, exercise, and positive social interaction. His diet is a life plan and is radically different from most American high-fat, high-calorie kind of eating. He explains that most diets are based on reduced portions which causes the wat to feel hungry and want to go off the diet.

Under his plan, the amount of food is not so important as the kind of food that you eat. He explains that all calories are not equal and that fat is the enemy of those who are concerned about heart disease. A radical change is threatening to most people, but he addresses those issues and puts forth a very convincing argument for the advantages of his program.

Many of his recipes seem exotic and full of hard-to-find ingredients, but there are enough of them to satisfy the most particular palates, and readers can make their own modifications to produce more user-friendly recipes.
