Pavel and Andy know strength and they cut through the broscience. The fact that Bolton is one of the big names dynamire dead lifting gets another star. He broke records and did things in dead lifting that are bigger than He tells you how he did it and what worked for him.
This is invaluable knowledge. When it comes to using your body as a physical tool, you don’t have a warranty and you can’t return it. If you want apvel do something amazing with your body, listen to the people who have actually done it themselves. Pavel is not a dead lift king like Bolton, but he understands how to collaborate with those who have achieved greatness in their fields and get that knowledge into an understandable form for the everyday person to use.
I am in my mid forties. I dead lift and squat to physically stress my body so that it creates the HGH human growth hormone that older people don’t have naturally. It keeps me in good enough shape to keep on with a very physical career that Pagel enjoy. Dead lifts and squats dearlift the two exercises that really make my body thrive so I want to be the best I can be readlift these two critical tasks. That’s why I purchased this book. I’m not a body builder or a power lifter.
I just dynzmite to do it right and be injury free.
I started 3 months ago at pounds. I’m dead lifting x5 at this point. I’m never going to break any records but I achieve personal records every week and that’s what it’s all about. Other sources for beginners to look at nerdfitness. It got me started and I never used the paid stuff. The free stuff is enough to get you a long way. If you like it enough to pay for the inner circle then more power to you. Once again, real world, not broscience.
Yo Elliott – on youtube. VERY entertaining, talks ddeadlift a lot of different fitness issues along with “men” stuff. A young paveo looking to get familiar with the world of weights would get a lot out of this guy.
He does use explicit language on occasion but he’s one of the few out there who seems to have more interest in quality deadlify advice than in oavel ego. Technique and drills to develop excellent form not just for deads but also for squat and to a lesser degree bench This is enough to get good form that will help you be strong and injury resistant Also covers probably the best assortment of assistance excercises for helping keep balanced strength and mobility as you develop power.
Basic periodization strategies are covered to allow deadlft to keep getting stronger and not break down sowing it. The best book out of about 50 or so I’ve read on how to get really strong I’ve ever encountered.
I wish I would have had this 25 years ago when I started, I would have been stronger with less injuries. Great book that I expect will take 5 or so times through to soak up all the details and apply them. I’ve been a fan of Pavel’s for a few years now. I’ve never read Andy Bolton’s material before, although I was aware of his accomplishments. The most interesting and useful part of the book, for me, at least, was the section about “leakage.
He prescribes low deavlift, once a week for squats and deads, unlike Pavel in Power to the People! Nevertheless, both books are excellent. The first half of the book focuses on technique some might think its a little too in dezdliftwhich would be excellent to apply to a beginner. Andy Bolton leads most of the discussion in this and he does a great job of describing the nuances of lifting techniques in powerlifting, of courseof detailing useful accessory exercises for a would-be powerlifter, and he provides a detailed set of readlift suggestions.
Too many of the cycles are arbitrary and hypothetical, but if you don’t understand cycling, they’ll be fine dynmite you; if you already understand basic load cycling, you won’t find them useful. If you’re just entering strength training or the sport of powerlifting, dynamitw is an excellent lead-you-by-the-hand manual. If you love reading the training suggestions of world record holders, this is a great piece by Andy Bolton.
If you’re looking for some wild insight to radically improve your intermediate-to-advanced lifting, this is a fun read but probably not what you need. IMO the best all around exercise you IMO the best all around exercise you can do for strength and an athletic build.
If your time is limited, the deadlift is dynxmite quickest way to get you where you want to be strength wise. This is an excellent book! There is a ton of vynamite information here. The back-and-forth between Andy and Pavel works well, and gives differing perspectives.
This book is not only for the deadlift, but contains a lot of great info and training strategies for the other big lifts. A lot of the sections are very relevant to lifters of all ability levels and experience. This is worth multiple reads. One person found pave, helpful.
Best book ever written about this classic lift. I now understand that the deadlift is a skill to be practiced and not just another exercise in my routine. I will be referring to it over and over to help me reach my deadlift goals. Great book with very helpful information, especially on assistance exercises and programming.
A quick and easy read, with the enjoyable humor of Pavel spread throughout. Andy’s constant bragging gets old, deadkift to be fair, he has a lot to brag about; it just kinda detracts from the book IMHO.
But besides that, this book is worth a read if you are interested in boosting your deadlift and bench and squat.
