The kind you give to a friend who doesn’t feel well. It says some very true things about how very, very powerful a thing it is to just hold someone. Non-sexually and with sincerity, I mean. And it IS true. Hugs are seriously underrated in this society.
But what do I know. If you like that sort of thing. This is my 52th book for my Abrazotedapia Challenge I got this book from a friend in a Cancer support community. Pero ante todo hay algo esencial: El abrazo es para todos I was strolling through the library book fair and stumbled across this. If you know me, you know I like to give and receive hugs–and here it was. A book on hugging as therapy. It’s really short and quite cute! The illustrator, Noland, uses polar bears!! Anyway, it was a treat and made me giggle more than once.
This was a nice little book. I guess I don’t consider myself a hugger, mostly because I don’t really like touching people I don’t know that well!

I was inspired to write it because I understood we need more than pills to heal our wounded psyches – we also need the touch of love. There is even a section in the book called Ethics of Hug Therapy.
